Children and Young People's Service

Do you want to use a computer, borrow books and CDs, read magazines, play with toys or get help with homework? Then the library is the place for you.

The library has a range of services for children of all ages including:  

Activities & Events

An exciting programme of  fun events and activities runs throughout the year.

Bookstart

It is never too early to introduce children to books and reading through the national Bookstart scheme.

Chatterbooks

Exciting reading groups for children. Chatterbooks groups take part in the london Book Award choosing and voting for their favorite books.

Children's Gallery

A chance for children to share their art, short stories and poems in our online Children's Gallery.

Help with homework

Need help finding answers to your homework or a place to study? While all Idea Store and library staff will help with individual homework enquiries, why not come along to one of our Homework clubs. 

 

 

Newsletter

Library E-News is our free monthly e-newsletter for young people.

Reading is Fundamental

Reading Is Fundamental, UK (RIF) is a National Literacy Trust initiative, which helps children and young people realise their potential by motivating them to read.

Reading Scheme

Children can take part in the national Summer Reading Scheme which is extended to include children under 5 years old and teenagers up to the age of 16 years.

School Class Visits 

Local schools are welcome to bring groups of children into the Idea Store or library as part of their class visits programme. Contact the library for further details.

Under 5s

Come and listen to a story at our Rhyme Time sessions or join in the fun at an Under 5s group.  
Activities for Babies & Toddlers

We Love Reading

A chance for children to share their favourite authors and books by making an entry in our giant 'We Love Reading' book.
